At Last!

2019: Purchase my bearth on a photographer’s dream, wait 10 months …

2021: Delay due to COVID, wait a year …

2022: FINALLY – Fly to Ushuaia and prepare to head out. At last –

Our boat arrives at the dock about 4 hours before we are due to board. This boat will be our home for the next three weeks. The first night is beautiful. Then we reach the open ocean and I begin to ask myself, “Am I going to survive this?” This is my story of Getting Started on a trip I had been planning and looking forward to for almost 3 years …

  1. Hey Barry,
I LOVED this video, made me glad I’m on terra firma! Also, that boat looks a bit too much like the Cape May Lewes ferry, that only goes 60 miles or so in much calmer waters.
    Wow, what an adventure.
I really liked how the camera moved with you, I could get a sense of the real experience. I will definitely take a look at the previous videos, and look forward to others – cheers!

    1. Thanks Sandy! Despite the snags it was definitely worth the effort. Since my goal in life is to impress the grandkids – the video of penguins, birds, and seals succeeded!!

Brought great memories of leaving Ushuaia and heading out to the Drake Passage. You videos are starting to look like videos – they are telling a story using short clips, audio and still photos. This is why videos are so great. You can pack a lot of information is a small time space. Great clips of “getting your sea legs.” You experienced the “Drake Shake!”

Mute the camera audio track when you are inserting a separate narration track to help avoid confusion. Looking forward for more episodes. Norm
