Megan Asked, “Who Knows?”

In the far, far west, North Carolina slides to a point between Tennessee and Georgia.  Murphy is the westernmost town in North Carolina and Hayesville is nearby.  After our stint in the Teacher Corp, Hayesville (in Clay County) hired us.

So in 1969 I pumped the brakes continually as we descended into this beautiful valley in an old Land Rover pulling a trailer loaded with books.  To this day, Hayesville and Murphy hold a special place in my heart and I return whenever I can …
