Learning to GoPro

Blogger’s Note:

Last week I purchased a GoPro for a trip – it’s a tiny little thing. Looks like a toy but it has some pretty serious specs. With friends in the band, we were invited to the Counterclockwise String Band concert so I took the new camera and tried it out. The entire video was shot – and the audio recorded – on the GoPro. This is my first experiment; I’m a newcomer to both video and to the camera. Got to keep learning!

There should be an arrow to start the video. (This version has been reformatted for better performance. The original is in 4K and looks great full screen. This version is barely acceptable as shown and is awful at full screen. Oh well …)

  1. I have no idea what a Go-Pro is. I assume it is a camera, but I have every confidence that you will master it.

    1. Hi Karen! A GoPro is a tiny camera that adventurers wear on their helmets or backpacks to video all the stuff they do. My trip to Antarctica look real now so I bought the little camera to mount on my backpack and video my landing in the small rubber rafts called zodiacs. From the big boat, groups of about 10 will climb into each zodiac and cross the shallow, ice clogged waters so we can then jump on shore! I’m a bit nervous – my agility isn’t what it used to be! So I’ll film a bit of life on the big boat (90 passengers), riding the zodiacs, then hopping ashore to take pictures. Hopefully I can made a nice video of the trip when I come back!

    1. Thanks Tricia! I know I shouldn’t, but I call them kids! I love to see the kids take off, listen to them sing, and follow their lives. As a bonus, I learned a lot that I hope will help me in Antarctica! – barry
